south carolina

this tree reminded me of the state symbol of south carolina. if the moon was hanging above the palm tree, i would feel as if i was in south carolina. and i miss this place. so i pretend to photograph it.

moving memories

these next three days of photographs will be a running memory of one day's worth of moving images:

with the sadness of a character in a Ozu film, i hide behind the emptiness of a glass frame. i hide behind the joy of false friendships. i take pictures to not only capture the beauty, but more so to encapsulate the prevalent sadness of a the person trapped behind the lens, forever distant from the beauty itself, like a prisoner in her prison cell. i wrote to evan on silhouettes, "we like the shadow because we like the mystery of things we can't see. perhaps it forces us to really see more of the picture."

on a rainy monday

blinded, fastened by light, i let my windows blur for as long as possible. . . perhaps time becomes more of a passing memory when we aren't able to see things so clearly.

the b movie screening

self portrait number 24.

maybe i pay more attention to objects because they exist more than the other people at such events.

the noro

"The noro communicates with the gods of the sea, of rain, of the earth, of fire. Everyone bows down before the sister deity who is the reflection, in the absolute, of a privileged relationship between brother and sister. Even after her death, the sister retains her spiritual predominance." -Chris Marker
