kevin

"everytime i import pictures and see old ones of you, my imminent thoughts are of your overwhelming beauty. i can't photograph you enough to truly capture the beauty. which is why i guess they give people like you names...so that at least they'll see the name, if they can't see the beauty." -my thoughts from a love letter

if you can't see the beauty in these pictures, then at least you'll see his name.

fear and loathing

"twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. so throw off the bowlines. sail away from the safe harbor. catch the trade winds in your sails. explore. dream. discover." -mark twain

untitled to black

"the problem with letters, as i am fast realizing, is they are captured time."

i am happy with the way the world is changing. but i haven't found a way to put it into a picture yet.

a shadow of light...or maybe its just darkness

have you ever heard of anything more insane to tell people, as they teach in film schools, to avoid shadows in the camera?

the photographer looks the same, even without the contrast.

gleaning for photographs

mike carroll...i only seem to find myself interested in photographing the sky and skateboarding. i don't really know what it is about the sky that i like so much. have i even captured its essence?

spring sky: los angeles

does the image have to be in color to bring character to the sky? does it only compare to the clouds of switzerland when you see the blue? ...when we see a person in black and white the picture has more character, whereas the sky needs this contrast of blue behind white. but the sky is still the same sky everywhere...see it through the eyes of a traveler.

summer sky: switzerland

evan, are you there? is that you? ...do you ever spend time in the memory of a photo? no...not the image. it's just you standing there taking it.

this is my favorite photograph, but the one i remember least of.

strangers in paradise

yes this picture is exploitative. like all art. but i take one look at this man and can't help but to see the beauty.
