gleaning for photographs

mike carroll...i only seem to find myself interested in photographing the sky and skateboarding. i don't really know what it is about the sky that i like so much. have i even captured its essence?

does the image have to be in color to bring character to the sky? does it only compare to the clouds of switzerland when you see the blue? ...when we see a person in black and white the picture has more character, whereas the sky needs this contrast of blue behind white. but the sky is still the same sky everywhere...see it through the eyes of a traveler.

evan, are you there? is that you? ...do you ever spend time in the memory of a photo? no...not the image. it's just you standing there taking it. 

this is my favorite photograph, but the one i remember least of.

yes this picture is exploitative. like all art. but i take one look at this man and can't help but to see the beauty.
